For those involved in school education, Accelerated Literacy (previously known as Scaffolded Literacy) is a program that, like Reading to Learn, has strong foundations in Vygotsky, SFL and Bernstein. While AL no longer receives state or federal funding, a good many teachers continue to use the approach. This new website http://www.alpaa.com.au is maintained by consultants and practitioners and provides resources and workshop opportunities. Program chairperson, Bronwyn Parkin, has highlighted the growing collection of academic papers that will be of interest to many SFLers. Many thanks Bronwyn and team.
